I Was Mistaken.

Dear Anti-Tattoo Facebook Page,

Okay, I continued reading you Anti-Tattoo Page. You are attacking. The further I go to try and find some sense the more I see why people are peeved. And the more I realize that the resulting bickering is justified. Make your page private. You are indeed entitled to an opinion. You are not however, entitled to make others feel like crap for not sharing it.

Sincerely,
You Totally On Your Own

No Body Mods You Say?

Dear Anti-Tattoo Group on Facebook,

I want you to know why people who have body mods are invading your site and now making you feel 'attacked'.

This is your 'About' statement:
"This is a group for all those people out there who, like me, think that the modern trend of having an image permanently etched on your skin is a bit silly."

This is that statement in reverse:
"This is a group for all those people out there who, like me, think that the backwards trend of not having an expressive piece of art on your body is a bit silly."

Do you kinda feel attacked a wee bit? Do you feel like, by that statement saying not having body art is silly, that that statement is actually calling you silly? Do you feel like there was a lot of 'that's' in that sentence? Good, me too. Here's the thing. You probably should be more careful if you don't want a retaliation. I visited. I was a tiny bit offended and I don't have a tattoo. But I have one I have been designing since middle school (note I am now a college graduate) that actually means a lot to me. I want it as an uplifting reminder that I can make it. On a bad day when I don't think I can make it I want to look down no matter where I am and see that reminder etched into my skin that I have beaten the odds and I can again. Because let's friggin' face it, reminding yourself in your head doesn't always work. Sometimes the brain is a bit unreasonable when under stress. So, I can understand why people are getting upset with you. Although, I support groups that bring people together under a common opinion, totally do, there is this itsy bitsy line between having an opinion and begrudging others their choices. And on a few occasions, you cross that line by one bus trip, a taxi, and a jog if not the occasional airplane flight to another country. If someone wants to get a memento of a dead family member so that they can always look at it and remember, they shouldn't happen upon a facebook page that basically tells them "that's silly" or at all down grades the strong emotional reasons behind there choice or that tattoo simply based on the fact that the individuals belonging to the page... just don't like them. My mom doesn't like tattoos. I don't call her backwards. I am fairly certain I will get one one day, and like that time I showed up with pink hair at Thanksgiving, she'll look at me and state "I don't think your funny" and move on. Why? Because I'm still her little girl. I'm not ugly. My personality has not been altered. And I'm not going to get mad at her because she wasn't piss her pants happy to see my pink hair. I didn't expect her to like it. I like it. She respects that I like it and that I have a right to it just as much as I respect and acknowledge that she has the right to not like it. That's the line. Right there is that glorious perfect line between opinion and begrudging. Equally acknowledging each other's opinions without judgment. Another example if you're still with me: My sister on my tongue ring. She does not like my tongue ring. At all. But this is how she handles it: "I couldn't imagine doing that to my tongue. It grosses me out." She does not say this: "I can't believe you did that. It's so gross!" One of these statements is going to make me feel like I am being judged and lectured. One of these statements is going to make me feel bad or pissed off. Can you guess which? Find that line yet? You don't like tattoos. That's fine, nothing wrong with that. Don't have any. But don't strongly express that opinion and use terms like 'silly'. Part of having an opinion should also be attempting to at least understand the other side. People are getting peeved with you not because you don't like body mods. They are getting peeved because they have personal and deeply emotional reasons behind their body mods that you are basically shitting on. No one likes to be shit on. No one likes to have something they feel strongly towards or something that took them a lot of consideration so heavily and easily belittled without any respect to their feelings. No one cares that you don't want to get tattooed. And if they do, they're ass hats. And once again, I noticed that not all of you fall under this. There are quite a few of you that just don't want tattoos because you personally don't like them and you aren't being meanie heads. Kudos. Some of you are actually being reasonable and truly just want to talk to people that don't want to get tattoos because, hell, it's becoming a socially acceptable thing these days and you want some common ground with people. Understandable.

Now here is my extra nugget part. There were a few of you though that where are like "I have friends with tattoos" acting like that made you a little less discriminatory. I'm totally sure that the white supremacy groups when being confronted about their views occasionally will say "I know some black people," but we all know the hidden mental continuation "but I don't want them having equal privileges." Knock off that I-have-a-friend-that's-like-that-shit when being confronted by an opposing opinion. Your opinion is the one you obviously hold in the highest, so having a friend that is opposite your opinion just makes you sound like you came off your thrown and chose to overlook the obvious flaw that you detest out of the kindness of your heart. I'm certain you don't mean it like that, but that's what it can come off as when three comments prior you were talking about how 'disgusting' body mods are. Your friends with them might feel bad if they saw that. Don't cross that line, and you'll find the people that are attacking you really are, probably, just jerks, and not people who feel attacked by you and are simply trying to make you acknowledge that they aren't bad people because they chose something contrary to what you would. And there is a couple of you, and I'm not going to post your names on here, that are fucking obnoxious. There, I said it. I have attacked you. I acknowledge that I have attacked you. Why? Because I have read the amounts of vulgar, rude, and downright degrading things you have commented about people with body mods. I will be swearing here. So if you also have a strong aversion to this, move on now. The people you are insulting, the only basis of attack you have is a piercing or a tattoo. That's fucking it. There's for retaliating? being treated like dirt for simply having body mods. You are whining about being thought of as a minority and yet you insult and attack others over, not who they are or what they have done as people, but how they look? You act as though the choice to get body mods is someone what encompasses that person. That simply choosing to, I will use one of the words I have seen used, 'mutilate' one's self automatically means they make bad choices and are therefore wrong. Now I want you to think seriously about a small statement I found on your page "...art is in the eye of the beholder... not everyone views [body mods] as art..." And some people fucking do. So, they view it as art, and are choosing to put it on their body. And they are horrible because of it? You have no sympathy from me. None. This isn't some sort of enemy in the trenches bullshit. Also, stop with the whole 'I have the foresight to know that getting tattoos young will just mean I will regret it when I am older and please bow down before my superior wisdom' mentality. I know plenty of wrinkly people that have had their tattoos all their lives and would tell you to go fuck yourself. I noticed a lot of you are adults. Act like it. Or maybe you like the idea of showing younger generations that all the bullying they do to others based on superficial shit is justified. The people who are using that page appropriately that I mentioned earlier should kick your ass off.

Sincerely,
You Cannot Be The Victim When Also The Villain So Choose Somewhere Around Switzerland

P.S. I think you can still make groups by invitation or set their settings so people can't just go read your page, and join merely to confront you. Maybe you should look into that.

P.S.S. Everyone else. Just leave the page alone. Stop getting accepted to an Anti-Tattoo page just so you can be angry at them for not liking them. I understand 'Anti' is a damn inappropriately strong word, but just some of them are filled with dicks, some of them aren't. Leave them to their own devices. The dicks on there don't speak for the whole, just like how the dicks with the body mods that in turn harass them don't speak for the whole.

Some News!

I'm starting another blog . You'll notice that my "I hate your bolg" link is no longer a cute puppy licking a screen on a loop. It's okay, don't panic. After much debate about whether or not to make it a loop of Rick Astley doing his little dance from Never Gonna Give You Up, I decided to make another blog about customers and the wonder they happen to be since I started being a cashier. That blog will be linked there whenever I find the energy to get my external hard drive and design the little thing.

In the meantime: -> Have A Nice Day.

You're Such A Badass, But You Only Talk Shit On The Internet...

First, I would like you to read the title of this blog post again, but to the tune of Katy Perry's Ur So Gay. To express my seriousness I have summed up this post in a title with a tune! Now, I have been basically ignoring the whole cyber bullying mumbo jumbo because it's hard to fight something when half the people you are trying to fight with about it... are just too ignorant to fight with. Seriously, have you ever seen a nasty comment somewhere and tried to calmly explain to the person who wrote it that perhaps their comment was a little harsh but they are entitled to their opinion? Try it. Because I've tried it. I was met with the worst txt talk type combined with horrible spelling, grammar that would explode the minds of any english teacher, and misuse of the caps button along with no caps where there should be caps. Like a name... or a singe 'I'... or the beginning of a sentence... you know, if they remember to put a damn punctuation mark.

Side note: Maybe we should get rid of the damn caps button. If people who write this garbage actually had to hold the shift button down for a lengthy sentence they would probably say 'fuck it'.

Back to the topic at hand. There are just a few things I want to say, which means this is going to be long. Consider this part numero uno of this rant: If you are going to talk smack, at least show the seriousness of what you have to say by practicing some basic english skills. Unless you are on a cell phone txting and are trying to be quick, there is no real need to make a sentence that people have to spend a majority of their time trying to decipher like hieroglyphics. if u type lik dis then U SHULD STOP TYPIN!!!!!! It hurt too much to try and make the 'then' a 'den' it really did, so I had to switch it back. Pick up a book and maybe pass a few english tests, then you can have your keyboard back.

Numero dos. If you, for one minute, nay second, think that you are mister or misses bad ass because you just bashed someone you probably have never even met in person on the internet, then you are deluded. You're a coward. It's real easy to talk crap on Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, anywhere you have to use a keyboard. Real easy. It's an entirely different thing to bash them to their face. I am going to use punctuation to show how I am saying this in real life: You. Are. A. Coward. Regardless of whatever that person did to fuel your rage, if anything at all, the minute you post something nasty you are still a coward and pathetic. If you think you should be allowed to say these things, then by all means, go up to the person and say them. But hey, I get it, it's real easy to hurt someone when you don't have to look them in the eye and actually witness first hand the pain you are causing. If you have the gaul to hurt someone, then you should have the balls to look them dead in the eye while doing it. Anything short of that, and you are a gutless bully, and I use the term 'bully' over jerk because it is, in fact, a bad word. Another bad word that used to be an okay word, but in todays world it's a bad word. If you are being called a bully, you are being called a bad thing. Just FYI.

Numero tres. I am going to dispel something here. The giant lie that I bet a majority of people tell themselves before and after they click a 'post' button. Yes, your comments do mean something. I know the internet is a giant live wire. It's a place to be someone else. The shy kid can suddenly be loud and outgoing, the ugly girl can now show how beautiful she is, the jock can be a poet, the homosexual can find friends and support they can't even get in their hometown or school. There are great things involved with the freedom to go where you want and post what you want and talk to people around the world. There are excellent messages out there for struggling people that sometimes want to end it all, or are suffering from eating disorders. The internet has a potential to better the world by connecting people. However, it also can destroy people. I repeat, what you say on the internet, does indeed matter. It especially matters to the people you write about or to. Telling someone to go 'die' or calling them vulgar names on the internet for the world to see is cruel. And yes, those people probably, no matter how they act big and tough in their comments back to you, cry themselves to sleep, or think about killing themselves. It is almost impossible not to feel the tiniest bit of sadness and hurt when someone attacks you. No person should purposefully set out to hurt another person. How you can sleep at night knowing that you made someone feel like dirt is beyond me. Because frankly, the minute you intentionally hurt someone, YOU are the dirt. Look at the comments on this youtube post:
Now, I don't know anything at all about Cher lloyd. I know she was on X Factor, and sings the song With Ur Love that I happen to be liking on lately. I think I've listened to it five times in the last hour... okay, you got me, it was eight times. Now I am once again after typing that last sentence. Anyway, I am just going to post the necessary comments here:

"If you get famous, people will test you.
Public memorial facebook wall? That's like building a brick wall in the ghetto and expecting it to not getting sprayed on. Casting show? You are a CLOWN, here to entertain the masses. They don't care about you, they only care about how you will react next.
If you break down, you are to weak for the public. Hatemail is nothing compared to the things the media will do to you once people start talking about you."

"Buck up, nut up, shut the fuck up and step away from the computer.
Problem solved.
Sitting there FORCING yourself to read comments you know will be shitty is just torturing yourself. People are mean, WELCOME TO THE INTERNET.
These kind of reports just annoy me, minus the assholes who deface memorial facebook pages cause that's just being a prick beyond all hell."

Now I could be interpreting these entirely wrong. That is another folly with the internet. Text leaves an awful lot to interpretation. Let it be known that these statements... are completely true. Hard fact. The internet is a cruel place, and if you are in show biz the world is a cruel place. But this is what gets my panties in a twist: Why? Why the fuck is that okay? Do not pardon my language I very much meant to say 'fuck'. Excusing this behavior as okay in any way shape or form is the god damn problem. Because it is 'people are mean' as an excuse that makes people not want to do shit about bullying in the first place. You can be a jerk and not attack people. It's called having a sense of right and wrong. People don't HAVE to be mean, and because they don't HAVE to and they CHOOSE to, there is no excuse. None. Nada. Zilch. 'Oh, the internet is filled with bad people so you just need to get a backbone.' Okay, well, since the only thing you are suggesting is to get a backbone than obviously you care nothing about the real problem or a persons right to use the internet without having to deal with Joe Shmoe at the other end of the globe telling them they wish they would die. Why we sit here and excuse bad stuff is beyond me. Yes, it's hard to change the world, but it's not impossible. And bullying will never truly cease to be. We are human, and therefore flawed. But the views on it can change. Instead of telling people to get thicker skin or get out of the slaughter house, you should tell the bully's to just plain stop. Before you think about it, I am not saying attack the crap out of the bully's. That is just adding to the fire and two wrongs does not make a right. There is no real justice in trying to make a bully cry. Making them realize that they have to change their behavior because it is no longer acceptable is better. So I am saying to flag them, report them, de-friend them, say words of encouragement to the person they are hurting, and if you don't agree with the person they are hurting, than have some CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, not uncultured and cruel jibes meant to do nothing but hurt. If their comments are not tolerated, or fueled by attacking them back, then it would lessen at least a little, or a lot depending on the amount of people that do it. You are tolerating it. I am even tolerating it. I don't just write things here. Chances are I have done or had things that I post about done to me. It's wrong.

Also, freedom of speech does not mean freedom to hurt others. Just putting that out there. Because I do believe that the people being hurt have the right to be damn happy. And don't you think for a second that you having a right doesn't come with the responsibility to use it properly.

My name is Amanda Davis. And I'm against bullying.

P.S. - Once again I can relate this back to bad parenting. Why you aren't invovled enough in you child's life to know that they are doing this crap is beyond me. Your job once you give birth is to teach your child to be a good human being. Parenting fail.

Be Jealous.

I am the proud owner of footie PJs.

I know, your green with envy.

Hi, I'm Facebook, Welcome To Reality.

So, there was a former co-worker that recently used their facebook to bash work and another co-worker. All well and good you'd think except that they happened to be friends on facebook with almost everyone else at work, minus me because I know gossiper when I see one. Anyway, lo and behold the person this individual was bashing also was a friend on facebook.

Side note: Stop friending co-workers left and right. No, work people are not a good source of a facebook friends boost so you don't look like no one likes you.

Back to the spiel: apparently ex-coworker didn't think that saying things on facebook were at all negatively admissible to an employer. I'd like to clarify something. In most businesses, if you bash work on your facebook and are dumb enough to be friends with people at work on facebook while doing it, you can be fired. The end. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but what you post on facebook is not your personal life. If you at any time post anything online it is no longer personal business. It is the business of everyone on your facebook or online that has access. If you don't want to catch bad juju over something you post on facebook than your best course of action is to post fucking nothing. The minute you push that stupid little post button you are indeed inviting everyone to comment and form an opinion about what you just posted. You're an idiot if you think otherwise. Would you like to know the definition of personal life? Sitting at home and bitching. Taking a shower. Having sex or getting the wax out of your ears, obviously it is suffocating your brain if you think for an instant that facebook is a personal life.
